MIA
(BellaLabradors.com)
When my daughter Michelle and I
first bought Roxi we never thought we would breed her
until she completed her Senior Title with AKC, but there
we went and had a litter in May of 2007. Little “Mia”
was the last one born at 11:30PM at night, and breech at
that. She was the love of our eyes and Michelle and I
decided we would keep one out of the litter. We named
her appropriately “Bella’s Simply Irresistible”
as she was just that. We did our entire basic puppy
training and put her on birds and trained as far as we
could. Then she got her permanent teeth and the
question came up “who will force fetch her?” The
thought had been passing through our minds and we knew
that we wanted someone with a lot of compassion to force
fetch our dog and make us feel that our dog was truly
being trained according to what we expected and needed
for our dog. Sheena has been a friend of ours for a
couple of years now and we were not aware at the time
that she was force-fetching dogs. One day we were just
e-mailing back and forth and I put out the subject that
I was looking for someone to force fetch Mia. Sheena
said she would and that she had already forced a few
dogs of her own. I knew that she would be the right
choice from the beginning so Michelle and I decided we
would let Sheena force fetch Mia.
We felt she had the patience
(having kids of her own), the knowledge, but most have
all the compassion and love for dogs that we also have
for our dogs. I knew that she would treat Mia as one of
her own and give her lot’s of praise along with the hard
training she would be completing with our dog. Sheena
did exactly that. She took Mia on December 30th,
2007, it was a sad day for me because none of my dogs
had ever been away for training, but Mia adjusted well
and after being there for a couple of days to get to
know them her training began. Sheena kept me posted
everyday with her progress, which made me feel
comfortable. We went out to visit her on the weekends,
brought her home for a weekend, and it never bothered
Mia in any way. She always seemed happy and that made
me happy. Sheena worked Mia everyday mostly 2 sessions
a day, and things progressed well. As with any
training, there were setbacks, but I have to say that
Sheena dealt with them accordingly. I think that Mia
was exceptionally well taken care of, trained
professionally and is now out in the field ready to
pursue her Junior Title from AKC this summer. I know
that she did a wonderful job in 31 days to provide me
with the kind of dog I want to take to the line; eager
and ready to please her handler and not one that is
afraid of the e-collar in any manner, but still knows
what its purpose is. Mia came home after 31 days of
training, a better dog, happy, ready to retrieve
anything and is now running with the big dogs and she
loves every minute of it.
Many thanks to Sheena for the
superb job you did with Mia, we will certainly recommend
you in the future to anyone looking for training. I
think your compassion and attitude will make you an
excellent trainer in the future and I look forward to
hearing wonderful things about you. Also thank you to
the whole family for making our dog feel a part of your
family.
